Anonymous Flemish 17th century “S. Laurentius Martyr et Levita ”Original burin engraving without indication of author or derivation of the subject. Beautiful specimen printed with perfect inking on a portion of thin laid paper bearing the “Gloved hand with heart and flower” watermark, not exactly found on the Mosin but attributable to Northern European paper production in the late sixteenth and early decades of the seventeenth century, with large margins beyond the 'imprint of the slab, with slight traces of browning at the edges but overall in excellent condition. Our specimen corresponds in all to that preserved in the collections of the British Museum. San Lorenzo is represented half-length in an oval, holding both the book and the grill, an instrument of his martyrdom, in the four corners, in the round, some episodes of his life.
